Every choice you make throughout a day can impact on your enjoyment in life. There are 6 Essentials for Living that can help prevent ‘dis-ease’ and help us feel happier and more vibrant.

1. What you Eat

What you put into your body will reflect on the outside. We should all be eating 75% fruit and vegetables and 25% everything else. Remember, eat foods as close to the way nature intended. Eating in this way helps to keep your body in its natural alkaline state, the ideal state to fight injury and illness.

2. What you drink

Drinking at least 1 ½litres of water a day will help to hydrate your organs. A lot of us mistake our body crying out for water as a hunger cry so we end up eating more. Next time you feel hungry try drinking a glass of water…preferably filtered! Oh yes and coffee and alcohol – better to avoid these as much as possible.

3. How you exercise

Exercise does not have to mean going to the gym or even doing anything strenuous – anything that gets your body moving will do. Try yoga, swimming, or even walking the dog. It’s recommended 30 minutes 3 times a week, but 30 minutes a day is even better.

4. How you rest

Sleep is when our body rejuvenates and processes the ‘stuff’ from our day energetically. Getting 6-8 hours sleep every night is essential for your body to heal and recharge. If you find yourself waking during the night your body is not getting proper rest…you might need to get help with this.

5. What and how you breathe

When is the last time you focused upon your breathing? Most of us have developed poor breathing habits in our busy lives. Ideally we should breathe from the abdomen, not raising and lowering our
shoulders with each breath. We also need to be breathing clean, fresh air – which is somewhat easier when you live on the Sunshine Coast!

6. What you think

Without a doubt this is more important than all the other Essentials combined. If we are thinking negative thoughts such as worry, judgment, or doubt this will create beliefs that don’t serve us, stress, illness and ‘dis-ease’.  Our focus needs to be on positive, loving thoughts. Start to notice more about what your thoughts are and how they are impacting on your enjoyment of life.
